Virtual Field Stencil is an app created for sports field managers who paint logos on fields. With the app you are able to project an image from your device, using augmented reality, onto the field and then you can paint the image directly onto the field without having to use a plastic expensive stencil.
Once you have the app installed on your device just open the app. A camera view from your device will appear. First tap on the screen. This pulls up your photos on your device. Select your photo you want to use (any photo can be used but it works best to create a folder with square semitransparent logos that your regularly use). After selecting your photo begin to move your device around and a yellow X should appear. Continue to move the device until the X appears to be at the center of the predetermined location that you want to paint the stencil. Next just tap on the screen and the image will be placed. Now you can rotate and scale the image using two fingers. Once you have correct rotation and size you can look through the device screen and paint your image. The image may shift very slightly while you are painting it but even with the traditional method of painting logos the plastic sheet can shift slightly.
This app is meant to be a tool for sports field managers to be used in situations that they see applicable. It is not meant to be used in every situation.
This app saves sports field manages a lot of money by removing the need to make new stencils. It also saves time because your dont have to pull out a bulky heavy plastic stencil.
